Automotive Technician

Purpose & Objective:

As a European Automotive Technician at Dell’s Service Center, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing high-end European vehicles to the highest standards of quality and precision. Your expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex automotive systems will ensure the satisfaction and safety of our customers.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

PRIMARY:

Vehicle Diagnostics

  • Utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment and software to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in European vehicles.
  • Conducting comprehensive inspections and performing diagnostic tests to accurately pinpoint the root cause of vehicle malfunctions.
  • Analyzing diagnostic results and consulting technical manuals to determine the most effective repair procedures.

Repair and Maintenance

  • Performing a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and electronic repairs on European vehicles, including but not limited to engine, transmission, suspension, braking, and electrical systems.
  • Conducting routine maintenance services such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid flushes according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensuring all repairs and maintenance procedures are completed with precision and attention to detail, following manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Using specialized tools and equipment to disassemble, repair, and reassemble components of European vehicles with accuracy and efficiency.

Parts Replacement and Upgrades

  • Identifying and sourcing genuine OEM parts or high-quality aftermarket components for vehicle repairs and upgrades.
  • Installing new parts and accessories according to manufacturer specifications, ensuring proper fitment and functionality.
  • Recommending performance upgrades or enhancements to customers based on their driving preferences and vehicle specifications.

Quality Assurance and Safety

  • Adhering to strict quality control standards and ensuring all repairs meet or exceed industry safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
  • Conducting post-repair inspections and test drives to verify the effectiveness of repairs and ensure vehicle performance and safety.
  • Identifying potential safety hazards or maintenance issues during vehicle inspections and recommending appropriate corrective actions.

SECONDARY:

Documentation and Record-Keeping

  • Documenting all repair and maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly, including parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings.
  • Maintaining organized records of vehicle service history, warranty information, and customer communications.
  • Providing detailed explanations of repairs and maintenance procedures to customers and ensuring their understanding of recommended services.

Must possess the following Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License, be insurable on shop’s insurance policy and possess the ability to drive a vehicle with passengers.
  • Certification from an accredited automotive technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) are a plus.
  • Physical Demands – ability to lift more than 50 lbs without assistance and to stand for periods of up to 60 minutes at a time
  • Extensive experience working with European vehicles, preferably with specialized training or certifications from European automotive manufacturers.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in European vehicles.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in performing automotive repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Ability and knowledge of how to use a computer and diagnostic tools to diagnose vehicles, look up repair instructions, and access Customer Management Software. This includes the ability to view a monitor, and use touch screens mice and keyboards.
